Paul was born in Buffalo, New York in 1948. He earned a B.A. in Philosophy from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.S. Ed. from the State University College at Buffalo. After receiving his master’s degree, he taught Middle School Special Education classes in Arlington, Virginia for many years. He was an active member of the Arlington Education Association where he was twice elected President. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Education Association.
Paul was a creative and unconventional teacher who often used humor to challenge his students to examine their own beliefs and set a course for themselves that would lead to success.
His playful sense of humor and creative spirit were also evident in his artwork, which he sold through local gift shops, craft fairs, and online for over twenty years. He loved listening to Jazz, watching films of the Golden Age of Hollywood, and hiking the trails of The Shenandoah National Park.
Paul was a kind and thoughtful man who believed the most valuable asset we can leave others is the love we share while we're alive.
He is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Linda (Quigley) Moran, his mother Eloise L. Moran, his brother William C. Moran (Jamey), and twelve nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Norman M. Moran and his brother Philip D. Moran (Nancy).
In lieu of flowers, please offer an unexpected act of kindness or humor to someone who needs it.
A celebration of Paul’s life for family and friends will be held at a future date.
