Lynn Frances Gallagher born June 22, 1945, passed away on October 22, 2024. Lynn was a loving daughter to Thomas and Jeanne Gallagher, a devoted sister to Gail Johnson (Mike), Tom Gallagher (Linda), Hank Gallagher (Mondie), Peter Gallagher (Beth), and Chris Gallagher (Debbie), and a true friend to many. Her passing leaves an emptiness in our hearts, but her memory remains a guiding light.
Lynn's faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a devout Catholic, she lived her beliefs in prayer and service to others. Whether volunteering at National Airport or teaching English to immigrants, Lynn consistently extended her hand to help those in need. Her deep compassion and commitment to her community reflected her steadfast faith.
Lynn began her career on Capitol Hill in March 1981 when she joined the House Agriculture Committee as Senior Professional Staff on the Republican side under Ranking Member William Wampler (R-VA). Lynn established herself as an expert on trade and nutrition policy. Over her 25-year public service career, her counsel was respected by Republicans and Democrats alike. Her passion for public service extended beyond the walls of government; she was a true patriot who cared deeply about her country and its people.
Lynn was a devoted sports fan who loved cheering on her favorite teams—the Washington Commanders, Capitals, and Nationals—with unwavering loyalty. Whether celebrating a win or enduring a loss, she found joy in the camaraderie and excitement that sports brought into her life.
In retirement, Lynn embraced life to the fullest, traveling to new and beautiful places with friends and creating memories that she cherished dearly. She hosted her family's Christmas party every year, bringing everyone together to share in laughter, love, and tradition. Through these gatherings, her family and friends could truly see the depth of her warmth and the joy she took in bringing people together. Lynn was renowned for her baking, especially cookies, which were well-loved by her 12 nieces and nephews, as well as her 17 grand nieces and nephews who lovingly called her La La.
