Don was born in Washington, D.C., to George and Mary (Seidel) Geer on November 29, 1934. He graduated from Washington Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia. He married Margaret Anne Cavil on August 13, 1955, in Arlington, Virginia. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southeastern University.
He worked as an account executive, supervisor, and engineer for C&P Telephone/Verizon for 32 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and completed extensive training as a radar tech.
He was involved in Little League as a coach, treasurer, and system spokesperson; was a member of the Turtle Club and Fairfax Bass Busters Club. He received an award for alertness and assistance in an emergency as he saved an 11-year-old boy from drowning in the Chesapeake Bay. He was also named Little League’s Man of the Year for several years.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Anne; sons Donald and John; parents, George Geer and Mary O’Hara; and brother Larry O’Hara.
Don is survived by his brother George Geer; sister Judith (Geer) Young; granddaughters Haylea Geer and Morgan Geer.
A visitation for Donald will be held Friday, October 13, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
Donald will be laid to rest in National Memorial Park , 7482, Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22042.
