David's light shines bright.  David touched us all, everyone he met, everyone he helped, everyone he loved.  Yes, his talents and character shone bright to all who ever knew him.  Yet his inner strength and character, his kindness and wise heart we ever remember, and deeply cherish, always.  

David was a great athlete who dedicated his high school sports years (unfathomable hours) to playing for McLean High and representing the best of our school in the league.  Our senior year book includes team and action photos of David.
My sincere condolences to Kay, David Jr, and all who loved David.

David was a tall, quiet fellow-student at McLean High, Class of '63. He and I took the bus from the Kirby Road bus stop  into Washington during the latter half of 1963, exchanging only a few words.  Many of our classmates were leaving for college.  

To David's loved ones, to his brothers TA and John, may I offer condolences.  David, may you rest in peace.

Carolyn Braunlich

David and I built a relationship over a three year period when I was his Home Health Nurse Case Manager.  Gunner used to meet me at the door, proceed to show me all his toys and then take me upstairs to see his dad.  Gunner would take his position in the chair or on the bed whichever he felt necessary to watch and protect Dad.  
David and I  Loved talking about the Nats, especially how we would have handled a certain game situation to benefit our beloved Nats.  Due to his medical condition, David was unable to go  to the games.   I would try and keep him informed of what was happening @ Nats Park as I had Season Tickets.  When they were handing out the game programs I would always try to pick up an extra one to bring to David.  
Kay was always their if she wasn’t working @ Georgetown University.  Such a committed wife, we taught her how to do some complex care and she was a Rock Star.   She always tried to look at the positives and keep
up hope that David would heal.  
David was a fighter as those three years we saw ups and downs with his medical conditions.  I can tell you no matter how sick he was or how bad he felt he never had a cross word, never complained-we tried to solve things together.  
After David no longer needed home health care we still kept in touch.  We saw our NATS go to and WIN THE WORLD SERIES IN 2019.  I remember talking to David about so many things he was very wise and could always give me some great advice.  
I will truly miss him, he was not just my patient; he was my friend.  Glad our paths crossed so I could meet David and his family.  
Rest In Peace My Friend.  

I have wonderful memories of David and Kay being part of my young, married life.  He already had developed his love of Cadillacs, Redskins football, and Miller lite!  He was a big, handsome, funny guy who cared so much for Kay and David Jr.  I will miss him and wish the family comfort.   

 I was tall, skinny and not too coordinated when we were freshmen at McLean High School.  I went out for JV basketball even though I knew nothing about it.  David was clearly following in TA and John's basketball prowess, but he never criticized or yelled at me.  He would offer a word of encouragement.   I soon redirected my efforts, but I've never forgotten David's kind consideration.   John W. Chiles, Jr.

Your smile and your generous heart so deeply blessed our days at McLean High.  Your spirit touched, strengthened, and brightened this world, and helped make it, ‘wonderful’.  Your beautiful wife, as well as your wonderful family have our thoughts and prayers of comfort, peace, hope.   Your joy of life shall never dim.  Love, respect, and honor to you dear friend.  You remain forever such a kind, good man, and a generous friend to each, and all.   Sail on good ‘Captain’, sail on.      Lead on, as ever!

Rest in pease my Mclean High friend . Thanks for the memories. You and your brothers united McLean  students, teachers and alumni with your wonderful athletic skills and thrills for winning seasons throughout the 1950's and 60's and off the athletic field as well.  As I write this short tribute, my condolences to all your great family. AMEN.
