FEBRUARY 21, 1917 – MAY 31, 2023
Daniel C. Hall, of Fairfax, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Daniel worked hard his entire life starting at 15 years old when he joined the C.C.C. He worked to help build the beautiful landscaping of the Shenandoah National Park. He met his wife, Annie, while working with the C.C.C. and later married in 1940. They had one son: Roger C. Hall in 1942. Daniel built his home with his own two hands in 1957, making his family the first residents of Fairfax Farms subdivision. The neighbors and friends he made during his 65+ years of living in his home have brought more joy and love to him than words can say.
Daniel retired from the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority in 1977 after 25 years of service. He refused to stop working so continued working as a house painter, landscaper, and other odd jobs. He lived independently in his home, mowing lawns, and splitting wood until January 2023 when he moved to live with family in Fredericksburg.
Daniel loved his family, friends, and neighbors with his whole heart. He brought joy and happiness to all who met him, young and old alike. He was the most honest, humble, joyful, appreciative, and positive person anyone had the privilege to meet. His secret to a long life was “No drinking, no smoking, just keep moving, and a purpose for tomorrow.”
Daniel is survived by his son, Roger C. Hall, grandson Michael C. Hall and wife Victoria; granddaughter Malisa Hall Ridenour and husband Lee; sibling Bill Hall of Bristol Va.; great-granddaughter Tiffany Sperry; great-grandsons Peyton L. Ridenour, Devon J.L. Ridenour, and Brock H. Ridenour; great- great-granddaughter Airele Hall and great-great-grandson Grayson Hall.
Daniel is preceded in death by his wife, Annie R. Hall; parents Daniel and Lana Hall; siblings Hazel, Margaret and Louise, daughter-in-law Ella Joann Hall; and great-granddaughter Miranda L. Ridenour.
