Clyde Gene Eugene Rice

Clyde Eugene "Gene" Rice, age 81, on August 14, 2015. After 22 years of service, Gene retired from the Metropolitan Police Department. He continued a second career as Assistant Manager of the Potomac Mills mall. Gene enjoyed spending time with this family, hunting, fishing, gardening, and was an avid reader. He was preceded in death by his brother, Billie Joe Rice and sisters, Maxine Huppert and Ann Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary H. Rice, son, Michael Eugene Rice (Heidi), daughter, Sonya Christine Marcum (George), grandson, Gregory Charles Marcum, and step-grandchildren, Katie, Alex, Sara, and Chris Boyd. He is also survived by his sisters, Ruby Cottle and Marye Gehring. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 W. Broad St., Falls Church, VA from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 31, 2015 at Murphy Funeral Home with inurnment services to follow at Quantico National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oncology Department at Virginia Hospital Center, 1701 N. George Mason Drive, Arlington, VA 22205.
