Barbara Spedden Beakes

On December 2, 2023 Barbara Jean Spedden Beakes, 84, affectionately known as "Bobbi" to her family and friends went home to be with her Lord. Barbara was born to Arthur and Dorthy Spedden on June 9, 1939 in Charlottesville Virginia. She graduated from Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia in 1957, and attended Nursing School in Alexandria, Virginia. She worked as an Information Technology Security Specialist for The Department of the Army for 25 years receiving many accolades and achievements during her career. Barbara is preceded in death by her father Arthur L Spedden and mother Dorthy Spedden, her brother James Spedden and Son Stephen A Beakes. She was an avid animal lover having numerous pets throughout the course of her life and enjoyed spending her time gardening. A member of Old Bridge United Methodist Church, she was personally involved in her faith. She is survived by her son Tony Beakes, his wife Kimberly Beakes, grandson Zachary Beakes, her brother Arthur L. Spedden, Jr and his wife Joshlyn Spedden. A visitation will occur Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. A funeral service will be held Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. A committal service will occur Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
