Virginia A. King

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Virginia (Noonan) Hardy.

Gini graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy and continued her education at Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., UMass Boston, Bridgewater University as well as UMass Amherst.

Gini worked as an educator for 28 years until her retirement in 2002. She ended her extensive career as the Director of Student Services for the Westport School Department as well as the Atlantis Charter School in Fall River. She worked for the Bourne School Department for two years.

Gini enjoyed water color painting, knitting, reading, traveling, gardening, dog walking, and she especially loved time spent with her grandchildren. She was on the Board of Director's for the Fall River Boys & Girls Club, an Officer at Massachusetts State of Teachers, a member of Westport River Watershed Alliance, Friends of Westport Council on Aging, and the Westport Art Group.

She is survived by two children, Rita E. MacDonald and her husband Richard of Liverpool, NY, and Douglas E. King and his wife ConiSue of Providence, RI; four grandchildren, Colin MacDonald, Samantha, Jessica, and Rebecca King; two sisters, Eleanor Ferri of FL, and Barbara Mahoney of Plainville as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Peter A. Hardy.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 6:00PM. Visitation will be held prior to her service from 4:00 to 6:00PM. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gini's honor may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of America, 803 Bedford St., Fall River, MA 02723. Burial private.
