the widow of the late Richard J. Lynch, Jr.
Born and raised in Fall River, the daughter of the late John H. and M. Eileen (Grant)
Keavy, she was a lifelong resident of the city.
A graduate of Bishop Stang High School, Class of 1966, she earned a Bachelor’s degree
in Mathematics from Regis College in 1970. A math teacher in the Fall River School
Department, she taught at Morton Middle School and then BMC Durfee High School
until her retirement in 2005.
An avid golfer, Rita was a former member of the Fall River Country Club. She was a
member of the Fall River Educators Association and the Massachusetts and National
Teachers Association. She also enjoyed traveling. Rita adored her family, was a doting
aunt and faithful and loving friend.
She is survived by one brother, John H. Keavy, Jr. and his wife Ellen of Jamestown; one
sister Eileen Keavy of New Bedford; a stepson, Richard J. Lynch, III; a niece, Katherine
(Keavy) Fangman; a nephew, John H. Keavy, III and great-nieces Mary and Lily
Fangman.
Her Visitation will be Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 8:30 – 9:30 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover Street, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
