Born in Fall River son of the late Francisco and Marian (Michael) Raposa, he resided here for many years and was educated in local schools, and was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, seeing service in the South Pacific.
Prior to the war and immediately after the war, he was employed in the compound room at the former Firestone Rubber and Latex Co. and later worked at the former Globe Manufacturing Company. Ray was a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Westport, Fall River Boat Club and the Italian Progressive Club and was the owner of Rays Vending.
Surviving in addition to his wife, one daughter; Josephine A. Houghton and her husband Robert T. of Fall River, one son; Raymond J. Raposa and his wife Dorri of Newton, MA, two grandsons; Russell Houghton and Mark Houghton and his wife Denise, one great grandson; Alexander Houghton. Brother of the late Henry, Frank, James, Augustine and Josephine Raposa, Cecilia Vago and Alice Pimental.
His funeral will take place on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 8AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River followed by a funeral mass at 9AM in Holy Rosary Church, 120 Beattie St., Fall River. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Fridat 4PM-7PM.
