Born in Rahway, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Wilson W. Curtis and Veronica (Porubsky) Curtis.
Pamela graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in New York and from Rosemont College in Pennsylvania, Class of 1965. She also obtained a degree in Financial Para planning.
Pamela was a schoolteacher in Rehoboth for 10 years as well as a horse riding instructor. She went on to work and retire from the Bureau of Special Investigations for the State of Massachusetts.
After retirement she became the Vice Chairwoman of The Oliver S. and Jennie R. Donaldson Charitable Trust which focuses on cancer related research. Her greatest accomplishment, as Vice Chairwoman, was establishing the Wilson W. Curtis Medical Oncology Wing at Saint Anne’s Hospital.
She was a co-founder of the former Heritage Farms Country Club of Swansea, a member of MA Citizens for Life, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and Our Lady of Fatima Women’s Guild.
Her crowning achievement was being a loving mother to her children and a doting grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Margaret Curtis Smith and her husband Stephen Parker of Swansea, Wilson Waddingham Smith of Bridgewater and James Smith and his wife Kimberly of Fall River; 5 grandchildren, Wilson Waddingham Curtis Smith, Victoria Kathleen Smith, Colin Joseph Smith, Dierdre Smith and Monica Smith; 3 sisters, Kathleen B. Friar, nephew John Friar III, Barbara A. Curtis and Lorraine M. Curtis.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 9am from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place 178 Winter St., Fall River followed by her Funeral Mass at 10am in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River. Burial will follow in Vinnicum Woods Cemetery in Swansea. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8pm.
