Maria Conceiçāo (DaPonte) Costa, age 54, of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Miguel Costa to whom she had been married for the past 35 years.
Born in Candelaria, Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal, a daughter of the late Jaime and Natalia (DaPonte) DaPonte, she immigrated to the United States of America in 1988 having settled in Fall River.
She worked as a Machine Operator at Matouk Factory and Fall River Shirt for many years. A communicant of Espirito Santo Church and a member of Irmandade de Nossa Senhora da Ajuda.
Conceiçāo enjoyed a good cup of coffee anywhere. She loved to shop, vacation on cruises and most all spend time with her family who she loved and adored, especially her grandchildren. Truly selfless, she devoted her life to her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son; Anthony Costa and fiancée Ashley Franca; two daughters, Veronica Costa and her fiancé Emilio Baez, Carla Costa and her fiancé Demetris Barros-Bates all of Fall River; one sister, Maria Jose Pereira of Candelaria, Sao Miguel; six grandchildren, Julian, Gabriel, Kairi, Alyanna, Demetris and Emilio “Junior” and many nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Arthur DaPonte.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 9:00AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in Espirito Santo Church, 311 Alden St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00PM. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
