Margaret Mary (McCann) Driscoll, 84, a long-time resident of Centerville, passed away on Friday, June 30. She was the wife of the late James F. Driscoll. Born in Fall River, Margaret Mary was also predeceased by her parents T. Arthur and Margaret E. (McCann) McCann, sister Catherine E. Tucci and brother Thomas A. McCann.
She is survived by her son James F. Driscoll and his wife Michelle of Westport, MA, her son Matthew T. Driscoll of Dunnellon, FL, sister Ellen T. Higgins and her husband Edward of Yarmouthport, MA and Bonita Springs, FL, and her brother John J. McCann and his wife Judith of Swansea, MA. In addition, “Nana” is survived by her grandchildren Hannah, Ben, Jennifer, and Megan and great grandchild Kate. “Auntie Um” is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
“Mac” was a graduate of the Academy of The Sacred Hearts, Class of 1950 and then earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education and English from Salve Regina College in 1954. While at Salve, she captained the basketball team. After graduating, she was a school teacher for approximately 20 years throughout southeastern Massachusetts.
Margaret Mary was a very caring and honest woman who believed in helping others through her actions and deeds. She was fiercely loyal to family and friends while also possessing a keen and dry sense of humor.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 9:00AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter Street, Fall River, MA 02720, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 1355 North Main Street, Fall River, MA. Visitation, Sunday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Family and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.
