Lawrence E. “Larry” Kitchen, Jr., age 86, of Westport, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at St. Anne’s Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Gloria V. (Pariseau) Kitchen.
Born in Fall River, Larry was the son of Lawrence E. Sr. and Mabel (Isherwood) Kitchen. He spent most of his life in Westport.
Larry dedicated 45 years of his career as an engineer for local railroads, most notably Pan Central and B & M, before retiring from Amtrak in 2004. He was also a proud member of the Watuppa Boat Club and served his country in the United States Navy.
An avid fisherman and gardener, Larry cherished the time he spent quahogging and enjoyed countless moments with his family.
He is survived by his sons: Lawrence E. Kitchen, III and his wife Nancy and Scott J. Kitchen and his wife Laura, all of Dartmouth; his grandchildren: Adam Kitchen and his wife Monica, Brittney Resendes and her husband Anthony and Jonathan Kitchen and his girlfriend Ashley Vieira; his upcoming great granddaughter, Vivian Resendes; his sister Elizabeth Pariseau and her husband Philip of Westport; and his sister-in-law, Annette Garant of Westport; his along with several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Beverly Medeiros.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, October 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. George Church, 12 Highland Ave, Westport, MA. Relatives and friends are invited. Arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street Fall River, MA 02720.
