Kathleen M. Matthews

Kathleen M. (Keating) Matthews, age 72, of Fall River, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 in St. Anne’s Hospital. Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late William F. Keating Sr. and Nora V. (Synnott) Keating, she was a lifelong resident of the city.

A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1961, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from the former S.M.T.I. now UMASS Dartmouth in 1966. She was a Registered Medical Technologist starting her career at the former Truesdale Hospital and retired from Charlton Memorial Hospital. In her retirement she worked at the Salvation Army on Bedford Street as a Senior Aide.

She was a member of Kappa Sigma Phi Sorority while in college and was a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters; Kristine M. Resendes of Somerset, Karin M. Price and her husband Richard of Norwell, MA one brother; William F. Keating Jr. and his wife Anne of Fall River, four grandchildren; Nora F. and Grace F. Resendes, Owen P. Lawlor and Fiona L. Price, and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Mary Lou Hartnett.

Her Funeral will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 9:00AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Spring St., Fall River. Visiting hours Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 4701 Hedgemore Drive, #810, Charlotte, NC 28209. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
