

John C. Wilson, age 83, of Somerset, died November 14, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Mary Lou (O’Connor) Wilson to whom he has been married for the past 62 years.
Born in Quincy, MA a son of the late William and Jessie (McKenna) Wilson he was a lifelong area resident, having lived in Somerset and Fall River.
Mr. Wilson attended BMC Durfee High School and Bristol Community College. A US Navy Veteran, he served on the Fall River Fire Department for 30 years, most recently as a captain, until his retirement in 1989. Mr. Wilson was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Over the Hill Gang and the Fall River Fireman’s Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid New England sports fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife, one son, John S. Wilson and his wife Julieann of Rehoboth, three daughters, Susan M. Ross-Kut and her husband Matthew Kut of Acushnet, Kathleen Oliver of Fall River and Nancy L. Ramos and her husband Larry of Westport, eight grandchildren, Ian and Katelyn Ross, Jason, Joshua and Kathryn Oliver, Jessica Medeiros and Jillian and Jack Wilson, two great-grandchildren, Amelia Ross and Sophia Oliver and baby Oliver who is on the way, and several nieces and nephews. He was the father-in-law of the late Wayne R. Oliver and brother of the late Helen Quental.
His Funeral will be held Thursday November 18, 2010 at 9AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter St. Fall River, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10AM in St. Thomas More Church 386 Luther Ave. Somerset. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 4-7PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to South Coast Hospice 200 Mill Rd. Fairhaven, MA 02719 or to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association 720 Harrison Ave. Boston, MA 02118. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
