Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late William E. and Emma T. (Griffin) Frain, she had been a life-long resident of the city having lived on Mitchell Drive for many years.
Mrs. Galvin was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1939 and worked at the former Edgar’s Department Store in Fall River.
A communicant of the former Sts. Peter and Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church now Holy Cross Chapel, she volunteered at the school and was the former president of the Woman’s Guild. Mrs. Galvin enjoyed playing bingo.
She is survived by one son: Francis L. Galvin and his wife Judith of Bixby, OK, two daughters: Mary Lou Luiz and her husband Joseph of Assonet, Cynthia Strojny and her husband Thomas of Fall River, eight grandchildren, Christopher, Gregory, Anne-Marie, Jeffrey, Aaron, Kristen, Bethany, and Shelly, sixteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by eleven siblings.
Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 8:00AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in Holy Cross Chapel, 47 Pulaski St., Fall River. Visiting hours Friday from 5:00 to 8:00PM. In lieu of flowers contributions in her honor may be made to the CF Foundation, Sooner Chapter, 2642 E. 21st St., #100, Tulsa, OK 74114 Saving Grace Team, or to the Crohns and Colitis Foundation, P.O. Box 1245, Albert-Lea, MN 56007-997. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
