Eduardo “Eddy” A. Melo, age 80, passed away at his residence Thursday, August 5, 2021. He was the husband of the late Geraldina T. (Estrela) Melo to who he was married 54 years before her passing in 2020.
Born in Sao Miguel, Lomba da Santa Barbara, Azores a son of the late Jose De Melo Tavares and Maria do Carmo (Calouro) de Melo he was a longtime resident of the city.
A skilled builder, he worked in construction for the City of Providence for 32 years before his retirement in 2009. An avid landscaper, he enjoyed dancing with a glass of red wine in hand and especially loved time spent with his family and new great grandson Armani. He most loved visits every week from his brother in law, Jose Estrela. He loved having everyone gathered and really enjoyed life.
He is survived by one daughter, Angela Melo of Fall River; brother Mario Amaral Melo. Beloved deceased brother, Armando Amaral De Melo, two grandchildren, Alanna Melo Pavao and Jade Melo Pavao; one great grandson, Armani Melo Pryor and many nieces and nephews, whom he was so proud of.
His visitation will be Friday, August 13, 2021 from 8:30 – 9:30 am in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am in Espirito Santo Church, 311 Alden St., Fall River. Burial is in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Contributions in his honor may be made to St. Vincent’s Home. He loved children.
