Petra Perez Rodriguez

Petra Perez Rodriguez, of Falfurrias, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2014, at a hospital in Kingsville, Texas at the age of 89. This would have been her 70th wedding anniversary to her husband, David Rodriguez, who passed away in 1975. Petra was born on March 15, 1924 to Dorotero Perez and Petra Garcia Perez in Falfurrias, Texas. She was a remarkable woman of deep faith, profound intellect, and a vibrant personality, who served her family through her lifelong commitment to them and to her faith. Petra was not only a loving wife, mother and grandmother but she was the backbone that kept her family strong. She was deeply proud of her children and grandchildren.

As Petra entered into the gates of Heaven, she was eternally reunited with her parents; her husband; her grandson, Michael Rodriguez and six siblings.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her son, Joe (Odilia) Rodriguez of Falfurrias; five daughters, Petra Trevino of Alice, Texas, Rosie Guerra of Edinburg, Texas, Mary Vera of Premont, Texas, Rachel (Lino) Duque of Corpus Christi, Texas and Becky (Israel) Villarreal of Falfurrias; four brothers, Natividad (Ester) Perez of Shiner, Texas, Isidoro (Hilda) Perez, Manuel (Minnie) Perez and Jackie (Soila) Perez all of Falfurrias; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended relatives who will all miss her deeply.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Gilbert Trevino, Jr., Israel Villarreal, Jr., David, Aidan and Joey Duque, Ronnie, Rico and Roel Guerra, Joaquin and Flavio Vera and Danny, Admar and Tommy Villarreal.

The family will be welcoming visitors at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Falfurrias on Thursday, February 13, 2014 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Herat Catholic Church in Falfurrias.

Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias.
