Our mother, Lidia G. Garza, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, entered into eternal rest on December 9, 2024, at the age of 91.
The matriarch of our family, was welcomed into the loving arms of our heavenly father and reunited with the love of her life, our father, Hector H. Garza.
Other loved ones preceding her are her parents, Benito and Carmen Garza, her in-laws, Hilario and Manuelita Garza, and her siblings, Anita (Ramiro) Molina, Hilda (Manuel J.) Rodriguez, Benito Garza, Jr., and Ciria Garza.
Born on November 13, 1933, Lidia dedicated her life to her family, community, and faith. She touched the lives of countless students and staff in the 35 years of service to Jim Hogg Co ISD, where she worked in various capacities ending with her retirement as Jr. High secretary.
As a trailblazer of her community, she held the distinct honor of being the first Reina (Queen) of Jim Hogg County, during the dedication of Falcon Dam in Zapata, Tx.
Deeply committed to her faith, Lidia was a charter member of the Catholic Daughter’s of the Americas Court St. Clare #1966 since its initiation on January 15, 1967.
Throughout her life, she was a faithful supporter of the Inmaculada Concepción Chapel making sure the grounds were always maintained.
Mom and Dad shared a beautiful ministry, leading the Our Lady of Guadalupe choir with love and dedication for many years.
Additionally, she was a member of the JHC Fair Association where she served as pageant director for many years.
As a young mother of three boys, she volunteered countless hours as a Cub Scout Den mother. Grandma took great pride in cooking delicious meals and beautifully setting the table, adding thoughtful touches to every detail. Her love and creativity shone through in her hand-made personalized stockings for each of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, that she proudly displayed every Christmas season.
Though dementia took a lot of her memory, it could never take the impact she had in our lives. With a heart full of love, and a beautifully shone spirit,
Grandma lit the world around her.
Left to carry her legacy are her children, Jorge Alberto (Cynthia), Hector Jaime (Veronica) and Jose David (Velma) Garza and her greatest treasures her grandchildren, Ivar (Liz) Garza, Silena (Rigo) Navarro, Deandra (Ben) Schwarz, Jaylon Garza, Joe David (Alexis) Garza, Laura (LeRoy) Garza, Litzah Garza, and Joseph (Sarah) Garza.
