Jose “Paisano” Alberto Martinez, Sr., of Falfurrias, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at a hospital in Kingsville, Texas at 66 years of age. He was born on May 11, 1955 to Genovevo Martinez, Sr. and Guadalupe Benavides Martinez in Falfurrias. Jose worked for over 15 years with the City of Falfurrias in the Maintenance and Public Works Department until his retirement. He also dedicated his entire adult life to ranching and watermelon farming. In his spare time, Jose enjoyed hunting, especially dove and deer, fishing and working on the ranch. He loved and cared for many people and his family meant the world to him. He was a faithful man and enjoyed attending the church he was a member of; Puerta Del Cielo Asambleas de Dios.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Genovevo Martinez, Jr; sister, Manuela M. Perez, nephew, Ramiro Perez, Jr. and brothers-in-law, Emede Mireles and Johny Grisbgy.
Jose is survived by his wife, Adela F. Martinez of Falfurrias; two sons, Jose Alberto (Michael Rodriguez) Martinez, Jr. of Harlingen, Texas and John Anthony Martinez, Sr. of Falfurrias; daughter, Elizabeth Elaine (Emanuel Jimenez) Martinez of Harlingen; sisters, Jesusa M. Mireles of Houston, Texas, Noela Martinez of Falfurrias and Evangelina M. Grigsby of Dickerson, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Ester Martinez of Premont, Texas; six grandchildren, Ryan Mireles of San Antonio, Texas, John Anthony Martinez, Jr., Jenna A. Martinez and Jolynn A. Martinez all of Falfurrias and Riannah Rodriguez and Raul Rodriguez both of Harlingen; twin great-grandsons, Michael and Misael Serrato; special family friend whom Jose saw as his son, Joe (Kassandra) Moreno of Falfurrias and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias.
