Jason Martinez, a beloved son, father, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 in Premont, Texas at the age of 37. He was born on September 10, 1985 to Gilberto Pedro Martinez and Marivel Barrera Martinez in Falfurrias, Texas and was not only their only child but also their pride and joy. Jason was a 2004 Falfurrias High School graduate and was currently working at Inotiv as a Facilities Maintenance Technician 2.
On February 7, 2006, he welcomed a beautiful daughter, Kyrstin, and she was the most important person in his life. Although at most times she was many miles apart from him, she was always the center of his world.
Jason enjoyed playing his guitar, hanging out with family, friends, and spending time with his beloved companion and best friend “Gram”. Anybody that knew Jason knew how protective he was of his family and how much he loved and adored them. Jason will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him. Like Jason always said, “Life is a beautiful ride and enjoy it while you can.” and he did just that and has now taken his final ride home.
Jason is preceded in death by his father, Gilberto “Boxy” Pedro Martinez; maternal grandparents; Israel and Ofelia Barrera and uncle, Ramiro Barrera.
He is survived by his mother, Marivel B. (Hector Garcia) Martinez of Falfurrias, daughter, Kyrstin Martinez of Dallas, Texas, significant other, Daniell Marie of Alice, Texas and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Saenz, Saul Barrera, Ralph Vela, Hector Garcia, Aaron Cantu, Tommy Ochoa, Benny Martinez, and Alex Azocar. Honorary Pallbearer will be Tres Gonzalez.
Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 am. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias and services will conclude with Burial at Perez Cemetery in Brooks County.
