Emilio Perez Mangel entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at a hospital in Kingsville, Texas at the age of 95. He was born September 12, 1928 to Teodoro Mangel and Maria Perez Mangel in Falfurrias, Texas. He worked his entire lifetime as a farmer and rancher, tending to his cattle and crops. He also devoted many years working as an Instrument Fitter for several different businesses in the area including, Celanese, Brown & Root and the Zachry Group.
Emilio, above all else, was a faithful Christian and kind-hearted family man. The love he had for his wife, children and grandchildren was unmatched. His sense of humor was one of his best attributes and he enjoyed having a good laugh with family and friends.
As he entered the gates of Heaven, he reunited with his parents; wife, Elva Laurel Mangel and all his siblings, Pedro Mangel, Lilia M. Bruegger, Beatriz Mangel and Sulema M. Garcia.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his three sons, Emilio Mangel, Jr. of Kingsville, George (Alma) Mangel of Oklahoma and Juan Carlos (Claudia) Mangel of Falfurrias; two daughters, Debra Ann (Roel) Basaldua of La Copita, Texas and Rose Marie (Juan Antonio Jr.) Perez of Falfurrias; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Emilio Mangel Jr., George Mangel, Juan Carlos Mangel, Juan Antonio “Sonny” Perez, III, Jose Angel “Joe” Basaldua and Benjamin Jackson, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers are Roel Basaldua, Sr. and Juan A. Perez, Jr.
Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning 9:00 a.m. Funeral Service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Encino with services to conclude with Burial at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in the Mangel Ranch on FM 755.
