Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Arminda P. Stephens-Cotton, passed peacefully in her sleep on July 4, 2024, at the age of 90, after a life beautifully lived. Mindy, as she was known to some, was born and raised in Hebbronville, TX, where she lived most of her life.
She is survived by her one and only child, her daughter, Gloria Jean Stephens Ramirez, who was her pride and joy, her guiding light, and her whole world. Also leaving behind is her loving son-in-law, Jose (Beto) H. Ramirez, Jr., who was, and is, a blessing, and a pillar of strength for our family. She is also survived by the light of her life, her grandson, Marc Stephen (Carly) Ramirez of Missouri City, TX, her five great-grandchildren, Jordan Renée of Wimberley, TX, Ryder Boone, Vivian Mae, Estela Rae, and Audrey Joy of Missouri City, TX, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mamo, as she was affectionately referred to by many, was an exemplary mother, mother figure, and human being. She played an important role in helping to raise her niece, Nelda L. Moreno Racca, and her nephew, Ray Moreno, both of San Antonio, TX. She loved unconditionally, and possessed an unending generosity that could be seen in the care of her family and friends. Her biggest blessings were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who filled her with joy and smiles, and kept her young at heart.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ella and Heriberto Peña, her siblings, Belinda P. Ochoa, Olga P. Vivanco, Heriberto Peña, Jr., Levinia P. Cantu, and Oscar (Esther) Peña. Also preceding her in death, was her first born grandchild, her granddaughter, Daniella Renée. Their bond and love for one another was very special, and there is certainly a beautiful celebration of their reunion going on in Heaven.
Visitation starts at 9 a.m., followed by a Rosary at 9:30, on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Hebbronville, TX. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Marc Ramirez, Ryder Ramirez, Ray Moreno, Adrian Pena, Joe Reynolds and Jerry Ramirez
