Antonio I. Muniz

Antonio (Tony) Muniz went to be with our Lord & Savior on September 15, 2022 at the age of 90 years old. He was born on November 17, 1931 to Octavio Muniz and Jesusa Benavidez-Muniz of Falfurrias, Texas. Tony was a dedicated member of the United States Army during the Korean War where he was an Active Combat Medic. He selflessly saved many lives of fellow soldiers and earned many medals & recognitions, and even was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal. Mr. Muniz is the highest decorated Veteran in Brooks County and he continued to serve even after his military service as the Brooks County Service Officer. During this time, he continued to help other fellow Veterans receive the benefits they so deserved.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Andres Muniz and Delfino Muniz.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Delia G. Muniz of Falfurrias; a son, Carlos Antonio Muniz of McAllen, Tx,; two daughters, Marla Muniz-Cavazos (Oscar Cavazos Jr), and Melinda Muniz-Lopez (Severo Lopez) of Edinburg, Tx; 5 grandchildren, Kristina Candice Cavazos, Oscar Cavazos, III, Alyssa Rae Lopez, Laura Jean Lopez, and Jennifer Jude Lopez.

Serving as Pallbearers are Oscar Cavazos, Jr, Severo Lopez, Marcos Muniz, Tereso Pulido, Walle Bueno, and David Zarate.

Our Hero has made his ultimate sacrifice and has earned his wings. We will miss our husband, father, and grandfather deeply and his conversations and all the beautiful memories, but we know he had 90 blessed years and made peace with God our Savior and was spiritually ready for his journey Home.

Thank you to all who came, reached out, and offered your heartfelt prayers and condolences. Our faith and hearts know we shall be together again….. there’s no goodbyes, only eternal love.

Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Services will conclude with Veteran Burial Service at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
