Amadeo “Mike” Eduardo Salinas, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 19, 2023 in Kingsville, Texas. He was born on September 9, 1921 to Celso Salinas and Petronila Trevino Salinas in Falfurrias, Texas and was blessed with 102 years of life. He was a 1940 graduate of Hebbronville High School.
Mike served in the US Navy during WWII, aboard the USS Rockaway Barnegat-Class seaplane, and was a member of the Falfurrias VFW. He devoted many years working in the oilfield industry with Mid-Continent Supply Company. After retirement, he managed the Ed Rachal Memorial Golf Course in Falfurrias for several years, until the age of 92. Mike was also an avid baseball fan, especially when it came to the Houston Astros.
Mike was reunited in Heaven with his parents; wife, Irene R. Salinas; son-in-law, Orlando Montalvo and all of his siblings, Alejandro Salinas, Octavio Salinas, Lamar Salinas, Delia Harborth, Maria Celia Cruz and Viola Gutierrez.
Left to cherish his memories are his son, Amadeo E. Salinas, Jr. of Mission, Texas; daughters, Erika Salinas-Cantu of Austin, Texas and Annette Salinas of Falfurrias; six grandchildren, Amadeo Eduardo Salinas, III, Andrew Jacob Salinas, Joseph Edward Cantu, John Patrick Cantu, Jacqueline Anne Cantu and Aubriana Lanette Montalvo; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Amadeo Eduardo Salinas, III, Andrew Jacob Salinas, Joseph Edward Cantu, John Patrick Cantu, Jason Salinas and Joel Gutierrez.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the Falfurrias Burial Park with military honors.
