Mary was born December 23, 1932 in New Britain, CT to Frederick and Ethel Sensabaugh. She grew up in Syracuse, NY and graduated high school from Onondaga Valley Academy.
Beloved wife of the late Burton Jay; devoted mother of Jay (Joanne) and the late Diana Chevalier (Jay “Butch”); cherished grandmother of Joshua (Kari) and Jeremy (Lorraine); loving great grandmother of Mackenzie, Jayden, Avery, Jeremiah, Giovaughni and Jayven. Caring sister of Paul Sensabaugh (Francis), Barbara Fenner (Harold,deceased), and the late Eleanor Kirby (Robert) and Betty Lake (Norman); dear aunt and friend of many.
In her younger years Mary worked as a Stewardess and in reservations for United Airlines where she met Burt. Following a brief courtship, Mary and Burt eloped and were married for 45 years until his passing in 2003. After welcoming two children, she started a new career in banking at First Federal of Lakewood. In time she became their first female officer and retired as Assistant Vice President of Marketing in 1990.
Mary was involved in charitable work as a member of Clipped Wings, winning their national Distinguished Service Award in 2012. She held dear her sisterhood in P.E.O. International. She also volunteered with hospice and at Fairview Hospital
Mary loved knitting, reading and traveling the world.
The family will receive friends and celebrate her life on Saturday, November 2, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM with service immediately following at Corrigan Craciun Funeral, 20820 Lorain Rd., Fairview Park, OH. Interment Private.
