Tara R. Carter Mills

Mrs. Mills grew up in Urbana, IL, where she was a member of the Salem Baptist Church youth choir. Tara graduated from Urbana High School in 1986 and received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, from Illinois State University, in 1991. She also received a master’s degree in Public Health and Social Work; from St. Louis University, in 2000. She enjoyed volunteering her time for school activities and her children’s many other activities and sports. She loved to read and create scrap books and keepsakes from the photo’s she took. Tara was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. East St. Louis Chapter and was a member of Faith Family Church at the time of her passing.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Percy and Eunice Carter; and her maternal grandfather, Louis James Thomas, Sr.

Surviving to cherish her memory, are her loving husband of 17 years, Stephen M. Mills, of O’Fallon, Illinois; her children, Amber, Stephen, Jr., and Alexis Mills; her parents, Robert and Dorothy, nee Thomas, Carter; her maternal grandmother, Corrine Thomas; a brother, Robert “Bobby” Carter, Jr.; two sisters, Eunice “Elaine” Carter and Myra S. Carter; a God-brother, Kobe Wilson; two God-sisters, Kehera and Brittan Wilson; two nephews, Robert Carter III and Hadari Carter; a great nephew, Camron Carter; and many aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon, Monday, July 23, 2012, at Faith Family Church, 704 North Green Mount Rd., Shiloh, IL.

Funeral: Services will be held at 12 Noon, Monday, July 23, 2012, at the church, with Pastor John Temple officiating. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
