Ronald Dean Price

Dean started school at the State School for the Blind in Jacksonville, Ill., as a young boy. It was there he learned how to read Braille. He remained a student there until he graduated. He then went to a trading school in Chicago, Ill. After leaving Chicago, Dean came to Evansville where he worked for the Evansville Blind Association. He stayed with the association for ten years before getting a job with the radiology department at the Deaconess Medical Center.

Dean liked to correspond with his friends and family by tape instead of writing. One of his favorite activities was collecting stuffed animals and electric trains. Dean had a unique opportunity to enjoy being a DJ for the 99.5 radio station KDQ in 1995. One of his favorite country music artists was named Ronnie Milsap who is also blind.

Dean has always been a very active member in the community. He was a very talented singer and led a singing group at Victory Baptist Church. He also led the singing at the Evansville Rescue Mission. He enjoyed traveling around the country to attend various concerts, mainly those of Ronnie Milsap. In July of 1998, Dean saved himself from a house fire with the help of God. He woke up alone in the middle of the night and had to find his way out of the house. He was so thankful for his survival and considered it a miracle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Helen, nee Zattz, Price.

Surviving are his brother, Harvey Price, a sister, Joyce (Tom) Pope, nieces, Beth & Jennifer Pope and nephews, Jeff (Karen) Price, Rob Price and two great-nieces, Lindsey and Claudia.

Memorials may be made to the Blind Association or to Victory Baptist Church in Evansville, IN.

Funeral: Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Lake View Funeral Home. Interment will held in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
