Robert C Snyder

Robert (Bob) Snyder, 78, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Illinois, with his family at his side. He was born in Belleville, Illinois, on August 22, 1946, to Englebert and Evelyn Snyder.

He was employed at the St. Louis Shipyard and the City of Belleville, which he later retired from. After retiring, he went on to pursue a career in acting where he had roles in Belleville the Movie, Expect Delays and Proximity. He was a member of AARP, CERTs, the National Rifle Association, Toast Masters, Gold's Gym and the Metro East Coin and Currency Club.

He loved spending time with his family, spending time outside working in the yard, and playing chess and pinochle. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Engelbert and Evelyn Snyder; his loving wife of 45 years, Phyllis, who he married on September 22, 1967; his mother-in-law and father in-law, Darwin and Burnette Heely; his sister, Connie Snyder.

He is survived by his children, Pattie Snyder, Joe Snyder, Scott (Tiffany) Snyder, and Brad (Tracy Ables) Snyder; three grandchildren, Teri (Steve) Street, Nick (Katelyn) Snyder, and Amanda Snyder; two step grandchildren Michael and Dylan Boyd; a great grandson, Gavin Street; brother, Jack Snyder; niece Sarah Hafford, nephew Chris Snyder, several great nieces and nephews and his canine companion, Ernie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be submitted to: The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital or to the family.

A visitation for Robert will be held Friday, November 22, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL 62208. A funeral service will be at 12:00 PM. Rober will be laid to rest following the service at Lake View Memorial Gardens.
