Hortense E. Givenrod

Hortense enjoyed gardening, music, which she “played by ear”, birds, and craft making. She took pride in keeping an immaculate home. She was raised on a farm in Belleville, Illinois and moved to another farm in Freeburg, Illinois with the love of her life, Homer Givenrod. Hortense was a loving aunt, great aunt, and dear friend. She was a jewel to know and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband; Homer Givenrod; her parents, Moritz and Anna Scheibel, nee Hartman; her sister Stella (Jim) Carr; her brothers, Armond (June) Scheibel, and Richard Scheibel who passed away in childhood.

Surviving are her nephew; Don (Lucille) Carr; her great nephews, Michael (Constance) Carr and Steven (Gabriela) Carr and a number of dear relatives and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 11 am to 2 pm, Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Funeral Service: Services will be held immediately following the visitation at 2 pm, Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois. Interment will take place in Lake View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
