Robert “Bob” Astley, 92, entered eternal rest Saturday, December 10, 2022 comforted by his loving family with determination and perseverance. He faced his recent health issues with a great attitude. Husband of Ruth E. (Johnson) Astley of 60 years father of their loving daughter Carol R. Astley-Calnan and her husband James A. Calnan. He leaves several cousins. A lifelong resident of New Bedford and member of New Bedford High School Class of 1948. A Korean Army Veteran discharged with the rank of Corporal. Before retiring from Reynolds and De Walt Printing in 1992 he worked at Baker Manufacturing. Bob was a member of the Graphic Communication International Union. In his younger years he attended Arthur Murray Dancing Studio. He enjoyed Bingo, spending time with his family, friends, and had a passion for the outdoors and gardening as well as bowling on the green, with the north and south leagues in Brooklawn and Hazelwood Parks. He was predeceased by parents Richard and Annie (Davenport) Astley.
