Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Manuel and Palmira Amaral, he lived in New Bedford before moving to Acushnet 47 years ago. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School.
Mr. Amaral worked as a manager at Executive Coffee in Fairhaven until his retirement. Following retirement, he worked as a bus driver for Tremblay Bus Company.
Jim enjoyed golf and trips to the casinos. Most of all, he loved spending time with his loving family whom he adored.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Kevin J. Amaral and wife Juliette; two daughters, Kim Amaral Lindland and husband John and Tracy Amaral Beaudoin and husband Philip; five grandchildren, Christopher J. Amaral, Jennifer M. Amaral, Jessica T. Amaral, Charis L. Beaudoin and Nathan C. Beaudoin; a sister, Hilda Amaral; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME AT FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. His Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 12:00pm in St. Mary’s Church, Main St., Fairhaven. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Main St., Fairhaven.
