Born in New Bedford, Christine was always an avid lover of sports, gardening and photography. She was a graduate of Bishop Stang High School and Bridgewater State College. Upon graduation, she worked in Human Resources with Compass Bank for eighteen years. She was also a middle school teacher in Falmouth, Fairhaven, and New Bedford school systems. Later in life, she also worked for the Newport Historical Society in the Newport Mansions – primarily Marble House and the Breakers.
She was the adored wife of Glenn Messier, with whom she shared 43 beautiful years. In addition to her husband, she was the daughter of the late Normand and Vivian Laporte of Acushnet, mother of Lauren J. Messier of Fairhaven, the sister of Diane Donovan and her husband William of Dartmouth, David Laporte and his wife, Michelle, of Tiverton, Jeanne Laporte of Rochester and Peter Laporte and his wife, Joyce of FL. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, a great niece and great nephew, as well as her beloved grand puppies Petey and Dutchess.
Visiting Hours in Waring-Sullivan Home at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven on Wed., Oct. 2 from 4:00– 7:00 PM.
