Nécrologie de Pamela Frances Davis
Remembering Pamela Francis Davis Pamela Francis Guy, age 83, passed away peacefully in her Oakton, Virginia home on March 20, 2023. Pam was born in Augusta, Maine on July 6, 1939, to Mary and Thomas Guy, who gave Pam her middle name after her grandmother Francis “Fanny” Graham. As an infant, she was baptized at the local Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church in Augusta, Maine. As a young child, Pam moved with her family to St. Augustine Florida during WWII while her father served in the military. She attended nursery school and lived near her grandparents, Oswald and Jesse MacDonnell. After the war, Pam returned to Maine with her family to a tiny rural hamlet known as Readfield. There she grew into a brilliant and rambunctious young lady who embraced swimming in ponds, skiing, ice skating and all the rural pleasures of small country living. When her father, Thomas, was appointed to serve as an attorney to the General Counsel’s Office of the Veterans Administration in Washington, DC, Pam and her family once again left Maine and journeyed to Arlington, Virginia. While there, Pam attended the prestigious Washington Lee High school and was an outgoing and popular teenager. Pam served on the cheerleading squad during her senior year and graduated with honors in 1956. All at the tender age of 16! She then attended Madison College, majoring in biology and chemistry followed by a master’s degree in education and physical science at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. In the early 1960’s love and marriage to Robert Jones took center stage in Pam’s life. By 1965, two more young men had entered her life, her sons Curt and Jeff. By 1966, the marriage to Robert ended and although the 1960’s generation was a difficult time for a single woman to raise children on their own, Pam was a woman ahead of her time and always took challenges head-on. She began teaching chemistry and physics in the Fairfax Public School System and worked at numerous schools throughout the county. Along the way, she met Roger Davis, also a school teacher. Recognizing each other’s beautiful qualities and how well they complimented one another, love quickly blossomed, and they married in 1971. With Curt and Jeff in tow, and through thick and thin, together they raised their boys and established a family. After marrying Roger, Pam continued to work in education, in both teaching and leadership roles. Over a 30-year span, she led and educated thousands of students, winning numerous awards and accolades throughout her professional career. Along her journey, Pam became a devout Christian and served in the music ministry at her church, composing, singing, playing, ministering, and leading the music ensemble at the Word of Grace Church in Fairfax. She ministered to many including family, friends and others. She also ministered to inmates at the Fairfax County Detention Facility, touching the lives of some of society’s most troubled and lost souls. While at home, she became a remarkable gourmet cook, delighting the masses with her delicious culinary masterpieces. She left a legacy of the adventures and joy of fine foods, exotic spices, and recipes from all around the world. Pam was always full of energy. While simultaneously teaching, honing her culinary skills, raising two sons, maintaining a home, and nurturing her marriage, she also received her real estate license and was a successful agent for several years. In her retirement, Pam studied painting, where she became a prolific artist in oils and acrylics, selling many of her signed paintings and bequeathing the remaining beautiful artwork to friends and family members. Pam was an extraordinary woman, beautiful on the inside and out! She was intelligent, musical, a good student and teacher, a talented chef and artist, but mostly an amazing woman of faith. We remember Pam for her humor, her kind heart, her gifts of hospitality, and her dedication in creating and sharing her beautiful works of art and a legacy of caring and love for all who were blessed to know her along life’s path. She is greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Pam was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 49 years, Roger Davis. She is survived by her two sons Curt and Jeff Davis, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 sisters (Mary Jane and Jessica), 2 cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews. Our dear Pam, until we meet again!! A celebration of life for Pamela will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 5:00 PM at Demaine Fairfax Funeral Home, 10565 Main St, Fairfax, Virginia 22030.
