Born in Bamberg, Germany, Lore met Charles Miller, Jr. while he was serving in the US Army. They married on February 7, 1953, in Bamberg and after his tour of duty was complete, they traveled to the United States and settled in Louisville. While in Germany, Lore was an au pair for a US officer’s family. She taught herself to read and write the English language by reading to the US officer's children. She became a US citizen on January 31, 1958.
Lore retired from JCPS after many years working at Coral Ridge Elementary School. She was an active member of the Fairdale Eastern Star and attended Mt. Holly Methodist Church for many years.
Lore loved children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is affectionately known by her grandchildren as “Monmoni”.
She was blessed with a green thumb and her garden of flowers were always beautiful. She was a gifted seamstress and embroidered many beautiful pieces. Her handiwork was without flaw. Lore was the kindest, loving, and most generous person to everyone she met and loved talking and telling stories about her past.
Preceding her in death; her mother, Johanna Gose from Erlangen, Germany. Husband, Charlie Miller, Jr. who passed away on February 22, 2021, in Fairdale, Kentucky.
Lore is survived by her two daughters, Ramona Neal (Bob) and Carmen Stice (Rodney). Two grandson’s Byron Neal (Brittney) and Weston Neal (Mackenzie) and three step grandchildren: Paul Stice (Natalie), Jason Stice (Yvonne), Kegan Flum (Mark). Nine great-grandchildren: Noah & Shepherd Neal; Calvin, Warner, & Tucker Neal; Bennett Stice, Taylor Stice, and Avery & Emerson Flum.
German Family: Sister - Ingeborg Gose, Brother - Horst (Heilo) Gose & family; Angela (Benjamin & Isabell) & Thomas (Daria with Natalia & Carolin). Cousins - Gerhard Porzel (Honi with Irene & Frankie) & family, Rainer Porzel (Brigitt) & family, Herbert Will (Judith) & family, Gunther Will & family, Gerhard Appel (Brigitt) & family.
Visitation will be from 10am until 11:30am Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Fairdale-McDaniel Funeral Home 411 Fairdale Road following with burial at Evergreen Cemetery 4623 Preston Highway.
