Lena was born in Lodi, California on June 6, 1955, to Beulah Mae and John Overturf. She was named after her paternal Grandmother Lena Bernice Overturf. Lena's father passed in '57 and her mother remarried in '59 to a wonderful man named Elmer Roesch. When her mother Beulah passed tragically in '62, Elmer adopted her and her sister Tina. Her name became Lena Roesch and soon after a stepmother joined the family named Zula with her children; Paul and Paula.
Lena married her high school sweetheart in '74 becoming Lena Borges. They had 2 children Anthony Joel and Julie Marie.
She married again in '81 becoming Lena Mansour. She retained this name for a great part of her life, building a career with it. She worked in the health insurance industry for over 30 years. She developed many close friendships with a group of women at work and they supported and encouraged each other through many of life's challenges.
In 1994 she married Edward Cunanan and together they built a beautiful life that she loved. Their marriage was just shy of 28 years. She was a caring stepmother to Tania and Matthew Cunanan. Lena took great joy in being a Grammy to Tyler, Grace and Colby and step-Grammy to Anthony, Angelena, Angelo, Martha and Cody.
Lena loved to travel California and spent many autumns surrounded by the beauty of Yosemite Valley. Cambria on the coast was another location she loved to visit. She was a lifelong Christian and loved Jesus absolutely.
Her beloved sister Tina Vanderpool was a loyal and supportive friend to her everyday of her life. She enjoyed reconnecting with her half siblings who were separated following her mother Beulah's death; Marjorie, Mary, Nancy and Rodney. She was loved by her many nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by her parents Buelah and John, her adopted parents Elmer and Zula. Half-sister Marjorie. Her stepbrother Paul. Stepdaughter Tania. Best friend Carolyn Heiss. Her beloved Yorkies; Lulu and Bubbles.
