Neng Vang Moua

Neng Vang Moua, 83, of Kent, WA, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 18, 1941 in Muang Mut, Laos, to Tooj Ntxawg Moua (Father) and Txiab Yang (Mother). He is one of the older brothers out of his 12 siblings. After the passing of his parents and older brothers, he stepped in and cared for his younger siblings. Neng Vang’s surviving siblings are his 4 sisters, Maum, Dhia, Ntxhi and Suav.

In 1957, he married his beloved wife Pai Yang in Laos. Together, they raised 10 children: Vam Sawm, Ntxoov Lwm, Looj (passed), Tswv Kub, Yias (passed), Tsu (passed), Neej Huas, Nyiaj Neeb, Nkaj Tsab, Mai Ntxawm (passed), and Pliab. He was also a grandfather to 31 grandchildren.

In 1961 at the age of 20, he joined the Royal Laos Army. He completed the Logistics Specialist course, where he studied military science and achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was stationed in Muang Mut Lima Site (location unknown) in Laos and served as both a base security and logistics officer. He oversaw the delivery of supplies to the Secret Guerrilla Unit frontlines and managed the coordination of food and clothing supplies for civilians in his area of operation. He honorably served in the war from 1961 to 1975.

After the fall of the Royal Laos government in 1975, he joined the Chao Fa Brotherhood. However, after three long years of devastating jungle warfare, he sought refuge at the Ban Vinai refugee camps in Thailand with his family. He later immigrated to the United States on January 29, 1989 to the city of Long Beach, CA and then moved to Seattle, Washington in 1991.

His life was a life of significance, touching the hearts of everyone who knew him. He was a highly respected community leader and spiritual healer, known for his wisdom and understanding of the traditional Hmong ceremonies. His contributions leave a lasting impact on the Hmong community. And to many, he was a father and beloved grandfather-figure, showing compassion and love to all he met.

He enjoyed gardening and started his own business selling vegetables at Pike Place Farmers Market. He also enjoyed journaling, sharing stories about the Secret War, traveling, attending Hmong ceremonies and festivities with close family and friends, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his 7 children Vam Sawm, Ntxoov Lwm, Tswv Kub, Neej Huas, Nyiaj Neeb, Nkaj Tsab, and Pliab. He lived a long and prosperous life, filled with purpose and love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His kindness, sense of humor, and devotion to his family and the Hmong community will be forever cherished. He will be deeply missed.

Traditional Hmong services will continue Saturday, November 9, 2024 8:00AM through Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 10:30 AM, 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA 98203. A graveside service will occur Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 12:00 PM at Greenwood Memorial Park, 350 Monroe Ave NE, Renton, WA 98056.
