Linda Kay Boyd

Linda Kay Boyd (“Kay”) was called home to be with the Lord, and transitioned into heaven on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Providence Medical Center, Everett after her valiant fight with Pancreatic Cancer. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through months of Chemotherapy. Yet even throughout her own struggle with Cancer, she reached out to others affected by the horrendous disease in many ways by comforting others sitting nearby receiving their Chemo treatments simultaneously.

Kay was born on September 8, 1954 in Gaffney, South Carolina to Lucille and Jimmie Boyd and is the third of eight children – Shirley, Eddie, Van, Kenny, Cora, Joyce Elane and Julia.

Kay was known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers which would later become family. Many children and families in the Everett area were affected by her commitment to sow the gospel of love. She possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor to all that knew her. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and singing, will never be forgotten.

After graduating from Everett High School she attended Everett Community College receiving her Associates degree in Early Childhood Development. Following graduation she worked for the Everett School District, the Social Security Office and GTE/Verizon where she retired after 25 years.

Possessing a true servant’s heart, Kay was a faithful member of Bible Way Church Of God In Christ. She also attended Bethany Christian Assembly. She cared for family, friends and those in need she met along the way. A woman of faith and the heart of the Boyd family, Kay shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example, and also through various church groups and activities. With a real zest for life, Kay loved to sing, shop at the thrift store, travel, support others, attend concerts, camping, playing board games and bowling.

She is survived by sisters Cora Boyd, Joyce Elane Harrison (Mark) and Julia Hampton (Raymond) and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten.

Kay is reunited with her father and mother and is predeceased by her four siblings Van Boyd, Eddie Boyd, Shirley Johnson and Kenny Boyd.

Born September 8, 1954 in Gaffney, South Carolina and passed away May 3, 2017 in Everett, Washington. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 4-8 PM at Evergreen Funeral Home 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA 98203. Funeral Services will follow on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, 11:00 AM at the Bible Way Church of God in Christ 2228 Wetmore, Everett, Washington 98201
