Kyle Roy Mose

Born on December 23, 1967, in Everett, WA, Kyle was the son of Gary and Wendy Mose (Warnock). He lived nearly the entirety of his life in Snohomish County, primarily in Lake Stevens. There, he enjoyed decades-long relationships and a natural, pervasive community connection with a wide network of neighbors, friends, and family. His easy-going personality and sense of humor were often cited traits, endearing him to many. In his youth he especially enjoyed summer-long visits to the lake from his cousins; and trips to his aunt and uncle’s farm on a ridge overlooking Silvana and the Stillaguamish River, or family beach place in La Conner.

At Lake Stevens High School, Kyle was a varsity Boys Tennis and Boys Basketball player. After graduating in 1986, he went on to attend and graduate from Western Washington University in 1991. Soon after college, Kyle followed his father and mother into a career in residential real estate, the majority of which was with John L. Scott Real Estate Lake Stevens. Kyle also served as a property manager, including attending the family marina property on the western shores of Lake Stevens; a location that has been in the family for more than one hundred years. While real estate was his career, Kyle’s two sons were his life’s purpose as a devoted father. Kyle met and eventually married Heather Kite in 2001. Together they had two boys, Carter (17) and Ryder (15), and infant-daughter Addison (preceded Kyle in death). Kyle’s boys participated in a variety of sports early on, but eventually found their way onto the ice and discovered a boundless, innate passion for ice hockey.

Encouraged and enabled by Kyle’s unwavering support and devotion, the boys are ever-present in local youth hockey leagues, tournaments, and camps. A favorite was the annual summer road-trip to Penticton, B.C., Canada for a blend of hockey camp for the boys, as well as a family vacation for the trio. Road trips like those to Penticton became theater for his “dad jokes” which the boys enthusiastically delighted in, and equally and alternatively took immense pleasure in good-naturedly panning. Nothing gave Kyle greater pride than those two boys. After school or hockey, a typical treat for the family was a trip to the famous Lake Stevens Chicken Drive-in where before Kyle could start the order, unprompted the cashier would flawlessly detail each of their very-particular “usuals” without missing a beat. Other favorite local spots included Franciso’s, Bruno’s, and Buck’s. Kyle also embraced, and sustained life-long traditions like July Fourth celebrations on the lake which always necessitated a trip to “Boom City” in Tulalip for fireworks. Or annual late-fall trips to the Cascade foothills to cut the family Christmas Tree with the boys in-tow. In recent years, with warm hospitality Kyle freely adopted the task of hosting our small annual family Christmas gathering at his home. Favorite foods and festive holiday décor were in abundance. For decades, Kyle was also a regular at the Everett YMCA for lunch-time pick-up basketball games. With rare exception, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday meant mid-day hoops at The Y with the other regulars. Basketball was both a passion and a legacy. Kyle previously coached a youth boys basketball team, like his father who was head coach of varsity Boys Basketball at Lake Stevens High School. He loved to follow sports as well, with Washington Husky Football and Silvertips Hockey the focus of his greatest zeal. A collector by nature, Kyle accumulated sports memorabilia and other nostalgic “treasures” as he would refer to them.

Kyle’s circle of close and devoted extended-family, friends, and neighbors have selflessly and relentlessly offered support and comfort to the family, a direct reflection of the reverence held for Kyle. When he unexpectedly passed, Kyle’s ever-present companion and dog Blue was at his side.

Kyle was preceded in death by his father, Gary; mother, Wendy; stepfather, Clifton Melling; and infant-daughter, Addison Stella. Kyle is survived by his two sons, Carter and Ryder; sister, Lexi (Hokett); and brother, Darek; stepmother, Alicia Mose; near-and-dear aunt and uncle, Sharon Jacobson and Dr. Robert Jacobson; former wife and mother of his sons, Heather Kite; uncle, Jay Stuller (Susan Sutton); nephew, Tryston; niece, Tresley; cousins, Sam Schafer, Matt Schafer (Heidi), Richard Treichler, Robert Treichler, Karen Treichler (Jeff Ash), Jennifer Stuller (Ryan Wilkerson), and Nikki Stuller; aunts, Gail Schafer and Vicki Treichler (Roger Treichler).
