Fred J. Dompier passed away at the age of 92 on August 22, 2012. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Arlene Carroll, and his brother, Bertram Dompier. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Ann Dompier; son, Cliff Dompier; daughter-in-law, Debbie Dompier; daughter, Barbara Couilliard; son-in-law, John Couilliard; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and his brothers Gerald Dompier, Len Dompier and Robert Dompier.
Fred was born and raised in Mabton, Washington, the third of five sons. He served in the Navy in World War II as a medical corpsman. He met his wife while running a laundry business with his brother, by picking up laundry at the school where Mary Ann taught Home Ec. Thus began their many years of happiness together. They moved to Seattle in 1960, where he ran a clothing business for many years, before switching careers to being a building inspector for a construction company. In 1970 after their youngest child graduated from high school, they moved to Everett, where he resided for 42 years until his death.
Throughout his life he had many hobbies, enjoyed the fellowship of friends playing bridge and golf, hunting and fishing, gardening, and was active in his church as an usher. He was a creative guy, making things from macrame lamps to tire planters to semi-precious stone copper-wire trees, to candlemaking when he was 90! Fred will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
A funeral mass will be held in his honor at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 8517 7th Avenue SE, Everett, WA, Saturday, September 1st at 1:00 p.m.. Funeral arrangements are through Purdy and Walters, 425-252-2191. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be sent to the Everett Food Bank.
