Evelyn Copon Andrada

Evelyn Copon Andrada, born in Cavite, Philippines, was the beloved eldest daughter of the late Marcelino and Belen Copon. As the eldest of her siblings, Evelyn was a guiding light and exemplified unconditional love, underpinned by her unyielding faith.

At the age of 18, The Copons embarked on a new chapter, migrating to Norfolk, Virginia in 1972. Her love and warmth were tangible, and everyone privileged to know her can attest to her unique ability to infuse joy and peace into any room or situation. Evelyn had a remarkable gift for making life not only brighter but also more fun.

Evelyn graduated with a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Norfolk. She pursued a career as a computer programmer at the University of Guam, where her contributions to technology inspired her son to follow in her footsteps.

As a devoted Christian, Evelyn lived a life of selflessness, dedicating herself to her family and friends with unwavering love. She invested wholeheartedly in those she loved, never expecting anything in return. Her generous heart was matched by her passion for cooking, joyfully creating and writing down recipes that brought happiness to others. Her gentle yet impactful demeanor left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. The glow she radiated has only minimally faded and will continue to inspire those who remember her.

Evelyn's faith was a beacon for many within the Church of Christ. Serving as a choir member in her youth, a deaconess for the past 30 years, as well as a finance officer, she touched countless lives within the congregation through her dedication and service.

Evelyn's love story with Angelo Andrada began in Virginia Beach, where they met in the church choir. Their courtship, blessed by her parents' permission, blossomed into a beautiful relationship guided by faith and love. They married on October 31, 1981, and shared 42 wonderful years filled with cherished memories.

Evelyn is survived by her loving husband, Angelo Andrada of Yigo, Guam; son, Darnell Andrada of Washington; and daughter, Summer Andrada with her husband Michael Chan of California; siblings, August Copon and his wife Maria of Virginia Beach, Berlin Copon and his wife Lelou of Virginia Beach, Lefine Copon of Chesapeake, and Noralyn Avila and her husband Arsenio of Chesapeake. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and joy, forever embedded in the hearts of all who knew her.

A visitation service will take place Friday, May 24, 2024 from 4-8 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home in Everett, Washington. Another visitation service will take place Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home in Virginia Beach, Virginia and final resting will take place Friday, May 31, 2024 starting 10am at Rosewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
