Edward Morgan Morrow

Ed Morrow died on November 25, 2022, after a life of service to his beloved Everett. The son of Mary Lou and Edward Morgan Morrow, Ed spent the first years of his life in Bellingham, Washington. At age 10 he moved to Everett with his mom and brother Bob, growing up in a house just a block from the hospital where his life ended.

Ed was truly an "Everett (High) man," lettering in basketball and golf at Everett High. He went on to graduate from Everett Community College, followed by Western Washington University where he received both a Bachelor and Masters degree in Education.

Ed began his career teaching at Whittier Elementary; he was later the principal of five elementary schools and one middle school in the Everett School District. Many fondly recall the giant St. Bernard, Alex, who accompanied Ed to school each day. He received several state PTA awards and represented one school when it received national recognition for excellence. Another highlight was planning for the district's new Woodside Elementary School which included a district first - a covered play area. He also helped start the district's Community School program.

Ed was the father of two sons, Scott and Todd Morrow. Summers meant camping trips with the boys. Ed also enjoyed woodcarving and teaching others how to carve, as well as golfing at Legion Memorial.

After retiring, Ed served two terms on the Everett City Council and one term as a Port of Everett Commissioner. He was proud of his successful work to add fluoride to the City's water.

Following his marriage to Elizabeth (Betty) Morrow, he acquired the family beach cabin on Samish Island. Ed and Betty enjoyed their summers there, and the friendships and fun they had with their beach neighbors.

The last chapter of Ed's life was focused on local history and historic preservation. Ed and Betty restored an historic home and a small downtown office building, later ensuring that both would be used to benefit the people of Everett.

Ed is survived by his wife Betty and her son Rob Cole, as well as Ed's son Todd Morrow. He was preceded in death by his brother Bob Morrow and Ed's son Scott Morrow.

At Ed's request there will be no memorial service.
