Terri Lynn Williams

Terri Lynn Williams, 57, of Evansville, Indiana, went to be with her Heavenly Father on December 16, 2022, at Linda E. White Hospice House. She was born December 8, 1965, to Donna and David McCune in Columbus, Ohio.

Terri was an active member of First Christian Church of Evansville, where she met Monte, and they were married on May 23, 1987. Engaged in various kinds of leadership, she was a small group leader, Sunday school teacher, children’s church leader, and together with Monte, a youth sponsor. Terri had a passion for kids and taught Special Education for 32 years for the Evansville–Vanderburgh School Corporation. She was a Mary Kay beauty consultant for 17 years and was a member and group leader for Bible Study Fellowship for over 15 years. Terri finished her teaching career as a Livestrong and Thrivers Coach at the YMCA, where she became a support for other persons living with cancer.

Terri graduated with honors from Mt. Vernon High School in 1984, and she studied Clinical Special Education at University of Evansville, where she graduated with honors in 1988.

A lover of nature, Terri enjoyed hiking the varied landscapes of the Midwest, visiting zoos, and tending to her many flowers each season (her favorites being hibiscus and mandevilla). After being diagnosed with primary peritoneal and ovarian cancer in July 2019, Terri did not let cancer keep her from living life to the fullest. She retired early, stayed connected with her friends, reconnected with old friends, traveled with Monte to visit family and friends in various locations, and allowed her artistic streak to continue to flourish. As a testament to who she was, through it all, Terri practiced gratitude and reflected that she was more at peace in the last few years than any other time in her life.

Terri’s calling as a teacher was no more apparent as it was in her role as a mother. She was gentle and caring, encouraged questions and learning, and taught her sons to do their best in everything. She anticipated needs and guided her boys through the ups and downs of childhood with sensitivity and grace.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Clara McCune and Marie Rockfield; sister, LeighAnn McCune; brother, David G. McCune; uncle, Tommy “Tom” Roush; aunt, Frances “Fran” McComas (Robert “Bob”); and niece, Rebecca Mackey.

Terri is survived by her husband of 35 years, Monte D. Williams; sons, Damon E. Williams (Jessica), Devin D. Williams (Cameron); parents, Donna and David McCune; sister, Traci L. Ontko (Mike); granddaughter, Eden L. Williams; aunt, Virginia “Ginny” Roush; brother-in-law, Denis Williams (Jill); sister-in-law, Dena Clayton (Paul); niece, Riley Williams; nephews, Aaron McCune, Reid Crow, Alex Clayton (Meghan), Drew Clayton, Nick Williams (Anna); cousin, Jill Strines (Tony); her cat, Piper; and her favorite grand-dog, Sybil.

Terri’s family would like to extend the deepest gratitude to those who cared for Terri at all stages of the cancer journey over the last three and a half years. They are especially grateful to Dr. Samer Schuman, Audrey Voyles, and all the staff – from infusion to radiology and beyond – involved in Terri’s treatment process.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2022, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Pastor Jerry Clark. Friends and family may visit Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Evansville Building Fund.
