Samera Kay Whalen

Samera Whalen, 61, of High Wycombe, UK passed away on September 26, 2024 at Baptist Health in New Albany, IN after a brave battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was supported through the end with family at her side. Samera was born on May 7, 1963 to John and Laverne Whalen in Evansville, IN.

She dedicated her life to being a passionate and caring mother of six children. She was admired for her dedication to holidays and school functions for her children. She enjoyed teaching, cooking, photography, painting, and crocheting.

Samera was preceded in death by her grandparents, several aunts and uncles, and her youngest son, Abdurrahman Hadjarab. After 14 years of patiently waiting, she reunited her with baby boy again.

She is survived by her loving husband Omar Hadjarab, parents, John (Ann) Whalen, Laverne O’Neal, brothers John (Gwen) Whalen and Anthony (Kayla) O’Neal, children Nathan (Amanda) Gerteisen, Andrew (Megan) Gerteisen, Brittany (Evan) Hampton, Michele Gerteisen, and Abdullah Hadjarab, and grandchildren, Nathan, Anna, Brianna, Trenton, Dylan, Alexa, Beckett, Pierce, Kaelyn, Alaena, and AJ, great grandchild, Elizabeth, and several nephews and nieces.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
