Angels on earth came and carried Robert W. (Bob) Malcolm, RPh home to be with his heavenly Father on January 4, 2022. Bob was born January 5, 1930 to Clifford and Gladys Malcolm at their home in Mt. Carmel, IL.
Bob was married to Barbara Jo (Fox) Metz on October 2, 1998, a high school classmate. They had a happy marriage and traveled a lot. They went places and saw things that they never thought they would see including New Orleans, Hawaii, and the Grand Canyon. Some of their favorite annual trips were to Gideon conventions for as many years they were able and also visiting out of town family members.
He spent most of his adult life serving the public as a Registered Pharmacist, graduating from college in 1957. Bob served the area from Mt. Carmel, IL to Princeton, IN, and the Gibson County area including Haubstadt, IN and Oakland City, IN. After 55 years of service, he retired on January 1, 2013. Bob was instrumental in opening and maintaining the first Pharmacy at the Gibson General Hospital where he worked part time while full time at Derbyshire Pharmacy in Princeton. He managed the Meny’s Pharmacy in Haubstadt, retiring from there in 1995, continuing to work for Spectracare Home Infusion and then to CVS Pharmacy, where he worked in most every CVS in Evansville and many surrounding towns. One of his proudest moments was when his granddaughter, Jessica Lamb Barloh, PharmD completed her doctorate degree in pharmacy.
Bob served in the United States Navy for four years being discharged in 1954. Bob was also a member of the Kiwanis International for many years in Princeton, serving as President and in many other offices. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, the American Legion in Princeton, and was a Shriner’s clown.
Bob and Barbara were very active in the Gideon Ministry holding many local offices in both the Evansville East/West Camps and the Gibson County Camp. They attended many state and international conventions as well as several bible distributions around the area. They really enjoyed handing their waitress/waiters a new testament when they ate out and then asking them for something to pray for them in their life. Bob’s prayer life was very important to him.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Gladys; son, Thomas Craig Malcolm; and his first wife Donna; and his brother, Clifford Malcolm.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Barbara; three daughters, Deborah Tilley (Glen) of St. Augustine, FL, Cynthia Lutz (Jeff) of Princeton, IN, and Beth Sailer of Princeton, IN; step-children, Dr. J. Craig Fox (Thomas Root) of Green Village, NJ; Larry Fox of Morrison, TN; Karen Billings (Savine) of Venice, FL; Sharon Holder (Billy) of Newburgh, IN; Susan Lamb (Larry) of Evansville, IN; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800 or to P.O. Box 554, Evansville, IN 47704. His family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice and North River Health Campus.
