Mildred retired from Salem Church of Darmstadt and St. Peter’s UCC-Highland as a custodian. She was a 70-year member of Salem Church of Darmstadt and a member of the Women’s Guild. One of her greatest joys was baking cookies for her family. Her grandkids called her “Cookie Grandma.” Mildred also held a love for Christmas with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Raymond H. Kuester in 1979; parents, Emil and Catherine (Straub) Fischer; sisters, Valada Hudson and Elgene Hedges; brothers, Raymond Fischer and Gerald Fischer; great-grandson, Logan Burden; son-in-law, Robert Epperson.
Mildred is survived by her children, Linda Epperson; Raymond “Butch” Kuester (Kittye); Michael Kuester; and Angela Pohl (Tim); sisters, Helen Klueg and Virginia Seybold (Harley, Jr.); sisters-in-law, Betty Fischer, Polly Fischer, Dorothy Wildt (Victor), and Iris Mann (Harold); grandchildren, Tracey Gibson (James), Perry Burden (Tonya), AE Chief Kyle Kuester, Sr. (Robbi), Ross Kuester (Young), Todd Kuester (Katie), Joshua, Alexis, Rachel and Isaac Pohl; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Elijah Burden, Shawn and Emily Gibson, and Kyle Kuester, Jr.; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Mary’s STICU, 5 South, 6 East, doctors, nurses, chaplains and staff.
Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 27, 2011, at Salem Church of Darmstadt, 14134 Darmstadt Road, officiated by Rev. David Peterson with burial in Salem Church of Darmstadt Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street. Friends may also visit at the church on Thursday from 9:00 AM until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Evansville Rescue Mission.
