Lorene Maxwell, 72, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Linda E. White Hospice House. She was born December 22, 1945, in Harlan, KY, to the late George Washington and Cynthia Ruth Childers.
She retired from Little Sisters of the Poor after 33 years of service. She was an avid antique collector and loved playing Bingo with her friends from the VFW.
Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, William Albert Maxwell; sisters, Betty Jean, Glenda and Nancy; brother, George M. Childers; niece, Kimberly Renea Childers Muncy; nephew, Billy Joe Spaulding; sister-in-law, Iona Maxwell Hertel; father and mother-in-law, Olia and Mae Maxwell; and her parents.
She is survived by her children, Cathy Ann Evenson (David) and William Albert Maxwell II; grandchildren, Daniel Evenson (Amanda), William A. Maxwell III (Toni), Stacey Evenson, Xavier, Ezekiel, Katherine and Wyatt Maxwell; great-grandchildren, Joely and Dylan Evenson; special niece, Ashley Muncy; sisters, Helen Bumgardner (Albert) and Blanche Posey (Dickie); brothers, Paul Childers of Cawood, KY and Joe Denver Childers ( Mary) of Jonesville, VA; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 1:00 PM Monday, May 7, 2018, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Pastor Eddie Carroll, with burial in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends visited Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and Monday from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
