Linda (Parrott) Denton, 82, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She is mourned by her loving husband Wayne Denton and a large contingent of family, extended family, and friends.
Linda was born Linda Lou Grant on February 22, 1937 in Crofton, Kentucky, the daughter of Wallace and Gladys (Wilson) Grant. She married Bobby Ray Parrott on August 3, 1953, and they had seven children: Larry (Becky) Parrott, Terry (Laurel) Parrott, Suzan Parrott, David Parrott, Jim (Tracey) Parrott, Brenda (Rick) Parrott Kirk, and Sharon (Mark) Parrott Weber. She was preceded in death by Bob and Brenda, and also by her sisters Joyce Johns and Judy (Grant) Edwards. Her brother Gary Grant survives her.
In 2009, Linda fell in love with Wayne Denton, and they enjoyed 10 happy years of marriage before her death. She considered herself lucky to become a part of his family, and treasured her time with his children Joyce (Nels) Stohl, Bill (Maria) Denton, Ike (Susie) Denton, Richard (Tonya) Denton, Robert (Sandra) Denton, Patricia (Ricky) Rabideau, August Denton.
Linda’s 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren brought her great joy. The highlight of her day was always when surrounded by little ones, and she and Wayne loved spending time with them and helping care for them.
Linda and Bob were owners of Gears Piano Moving, and she stayed involved with running the company after Bob’s death. She drove a school bus for over 30 years for Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation, and is remembered fondly by coworkers and associates, many of whom she called friends. Her family would like to particularly remember her special friend Becky Pipken who has been more like a sister than a friend to her.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery in Evansville.
