Jo Anne (Chattin) Johnson of Evansville passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at Deaconess Hospice.
Jo Anne was born in Bloomington, Indiana to Robert and Helena Chattin and spent her youth in Loogootee, Indiana before moving to Evansville. She was a member of Centenary Methodist Church in Evansville, a graduate of the University of Evansville and taught in the EVSC at Harwood, Glenwood, and Evans schools totaling 28 years. She enjoyed taking walks, reading, and animals of all kinds. Jo Anne was a loving, caring, and fun loving wife, mother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Ron; son, Darren, both of Evansville; brother, Robert D. (Diann) of Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, Randy (Chris) Johnson of Arizona; niece, Stacy (Mark) Hilyard of Colorado; nephews, Scott Chattin of Illinois, and Steve (Livia) Chattin of Arizona; cousins, Tom (Patty) Spencer, Mike (Rhonda) Spencer, Bob (Suzy) Spencer, Sue (Steve) Mangold, Bill (Naomi) Ewan, Sonnie Neal, Kent Chattin, David Chattin, and Alice Saunders, all of Indiana.
Jo Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. and Helena Chattin.
As per her wishes, Jo Anne will be cremated and there will be no visitation or services. Jo Anne enjoyed her life especially her friends at Centenary Church, Stretch Class, Sunday Evening Supper Group, her buddies at both Glenwood and Evans Schools, and her on-line buddies at POGO.com
The family requests that if you wish to make a memorial contribution in honor of Jo Anne’s love for animals, please consider either The Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, TN, or The Evansville Humane Society.
